Rainy Days

It has been raining here all week! We finally got to see the sun today. The boys enjoyed it though. They put on their rain boots, sometimes their rain coats, and usually grab the umbrella. Gideon hasn't figured out that you have to stay under the umbrella to stay dry. They keep coming in completely soaked!

Freedom

Elijah figured out how to ride a 2-wheel bike without training wheels all by himself! He started on this bike, which is too small for him and has mostly flat tires. But now he rides his superman bike all the time. He is so fast too! He hasn't taken a spill yet, but at the speed he's riding, I worry that it will be a doozy.

June already???

I don't know where the last 6 months have gone. I thought I would be better about putting updates on here. Good thing I haven't told anyone about this blog yet!

So big stuff going on here. Our house is on the market, has been for 3 weeks now. We've had several showings, but no bites yet. It just occurred to me on Friday that I have a little more than 3 weeks left before moving day. I flipped out and started packing stuff right away.

Ethan is finally a licensed doctor in NY. That process took an extraordinary long time. But he's now legal and ready to go for Buffalo.

The big news is that I'm 17 weeks pregnant with #3. Ethan assures me that we will be able to keep this November baby warm during the frigid winter in Buffalo. I'm just praying there won't be a blizzard that keeps me from getting to the hospital when in labor. Again, Ethan assures me that he's delivered a few babies....but the last baby he delivered was in his third year of medical school.....in 2002!! Not so sure I want to test his skills....

It's been a very different pregnancy this time. Not that it's too bad, I've certainly had it easier than most. But more distressing things--like spotting and contractions fairly early, enough to worry the doctors to have a few ultrasounds. I have my next one tomorrow morning. The good thing is that it totally gets me off the hook for moving boxes around. That seems to bring on the contractions.

Other news.....Elijah's preschool is out for the summer this week. And it feels like summer with 90 degree heat!

Getting ready for Buffalo

I gave myself until the beginning of the year to start thinking about our move to Buffalo NY for Ethan's fellowship. I found out that we actually do know one couple there. Turns out they did a lot of research looking for the townhouse complex they now live in. I totally mooched off of their hard work and blindly decided that if it's good enough for them it's good enough for us! So--Yay! I think I found us a place to live! I sent in a rental application and a deposit, and the property manager promised me the first unit available this summer.

More Buffalo news--I found a CSA to join in Buffalo. Since we won't be there in time to start our own garden, I am very happy about supporting a local farm and reaping the benefits of their harvest! Works out to $15 a week for a 10-12lb bag of food.

I also made the big decision to not put Gideon in a preschool next year. He will turn 3 in September, and technically is old enough to go. But we may be holding him back a year before Kindergarten, and 2 years of preschool is probably enough. Plus, with Elijah in full day Kindergarten next year it will give me the opportunity to have quality time with Gideon. I hope to sign him up for Gymboree classes, go to storytimes, check out the local area with him-- like I was able to do with Elijah in Cooperstown. And if we plan to have baby #3, at least Gideon will have had some special mommy time before being turned into a middle child.

So Buffalo is turning out not to be as scary as it was before. We will join the Buffalo JCC with the hopes of meeting folks at the pool. There are plenty of museums, a science center, a children's museum, a zoo, an aquarium, Niagra Falls is 15 minutes away. There should be plenty to explore and get to know before the harsh winter cold sets in.

Family picture

First Post

So here it is December 2007, and I am jumping on the blog bandwaggon. Seems like everyone has one, so here's mine.

We are gearing up for a 5 day trip to Sun Valley, Idaho. We'll be up there with my Dad and his family, my brother Josh and his fiance Jen. We are hoping to actually ski this time. Last time we were there, Gideon was just 3 months old, and skiing didn't seem like an option for me. We may even put Elijah in ski lessons as well.

Hope fully it will snow while we are up there.
