I gave myself until the beginning of the year to start thinking about our move to Buffalo NY for Ethan's fellowship. I found out that we actually do know one couple there. Turns out they did a lot of research looking for the townhouse complex they now live in. I totally mooched off of their hard work and blindly decided that if it's good enough for them it's good enough for us! So--Yay! I think I found us a place to live! I sent in a rental application and a deposit, and the property manager promised me the first unit available this summer.
More Buffalo news--I found a CSA to join in Buffalo. Since we won't be there in time to start our own garden, I am very happy about supporting a local farm and reaping the benefits of their harvest! Works out to $15 a week for a 10-12lb bag of food.
I also made the big decision to not put Gideon in a preschool next year. He will turn 3 in September, and technically is old enough to go. But we may be holding him back a year before Kindergarten, and 2 years of preschool is probably enough. Plus, with Elijah in full day Kindergarten next year it will give me the opportunity to have quality time with Gideon. I hope to sign him up for Gymboree classes, go to storytimes, check out the local area with him-- like I was able to do with Elijah in Cooperstown. And if we plan to have baby #3, at least Gideon will have had some special mommy time before being turned into a middle child.
So Buffalo is turning out not to be as scary as it was before. We will join the Buffalo JCC with the hopes of meeting folks at the pool. There are plenty of museums, a science center, a children's museum, a zoo, an aquarium, Niagra Falls is 15 minutes away. There should be plenty to explore and get to know before the harsh winter cold sets in.

Lauren! I'm so happy to have found your blog! How is it possible that Elijah is starting kindergarten already?! Fun that you'll be close to Niagra Falls; Nate and I went there last fall and loved it. Lucky Gideon to get you all to himself. I used to teach at Gymboree and absolutely loved it. I miss all those fun kid-things, but having one of my own is fun, too. Good luck with everything!
